The objective of this study was to describe the social representation of body shaming among nutrition students from private universities in Lima. To achieve this, a qualitative study was conducted using a reflective thematic analysis design, employing the focus group technique, composed of 16 students in the final year of their nutrition degree, whose ages ranged from 20 and 31 years. The results indicate that participants value body shaming as a new, socially normalized and accepted term, largely due to the promotion of beauty standards through social media and societal expectations regarding body image. However, it is a problem that must be raised and discussed in academic training, as it can negatively impact the mental and physical health of those who receive it. It is concluded that social representations of body shaming influence its meaning and shape the future role of nutritionists in their actions and decision-making regarding future intervention and approach processes on those who experience body shaming, opting for an empathetic and assertive approach in collaboration with psychologists, from an interdisciplinary manner, in which comprehensive management is promoted that ensures the physical and mental well-being of patients, as well as the need to promote awareness about body diversity.
