This research evaluates the physical and mechanical properties of cellular concrete blocks in the city of Cusco, using three types of foaming agents made with surfactants, following the E.070 Masonry Technical Standard. Three cellular concrete mix designs were developed, based on the ACI 523.3R-14 (2014) guide for cellular concrete, aiming to reduce the structural load generated by masonry and promote more sustainable and innovative construction, thus contributing to the reduction of the housing deficit. The evaluated cellular concrete blocks, with dimensions of 12 cm x 20 cm x 40 cm, showed significant advantages compared to conventional concrete blocks. In terms of physical properties, the cellular concrete blocks exhibited a density reduction of up to 47.08%, which increased productivity and facilitated handling during the construction process. Dimensional variation was minimal, with deviations of 0.2% in length, 0.5% in width, and 0.78% in height, attributed to a self-leveling mix design. Additionally, the blocks showed a warping of only 0.02 mm, compared to 5.2 mm in conventional blocks, resulting in more level surfaces. In terms of mechanical properties, the blocks achieved a compressive strength of 29.9 kg/cm², exceeding the minimum requirement of 20 kg/cm² for non-load-bearing blocks, in compliance with the E.070 Technical Standard. These results confirm the suitability of cellular concrete blocks as a viable and efficient alternative for nonload-bearing wall construction, offering benefits in terms of sustainability, productivity, and construction quality.
