We grew aware of the geographical location of Peru, located in the so-called “Pacific Ring of Fire”, one of the areas with the greatest presence of seismic activity on the planet, which on a smaller or larger scale has generated in us an anti-seismic awareness, linked to respecting regulations, processes and encouraging research to benefit mitigating the effects of earthquakes. In this sense, we propose to delve into the design and verification of seismic joints in buildings of 5 floors, through modeling in ETABS software adding GAP elements to simulate the effect of the joint. Therefore; We will be able to identify during the results interpretation stage, if the proposed joint design is functional related to the number of floors of the buildings, identified through the earthquake simulator of the ETABS program. Concluding, that the proposed joint avoids the knocking between buildings due to the earthquake, which allows us to validate a correct joint design.
