The purpose of this research work is to carry out an extension to an existing two- to four-story home and verify if it meets the conditions of both earthquake-resistant design and confined masonry. This was modeled in the ETABS software in order to analyze the displacements in the event of an earthquake and verify if it complies with the provisions of the Peruvian Technical Standard E.030. The house was built on a 160 square meter plot of land, it consists of two levels with a height of 2.40 per floor. The mezzanine drifts were obtained through a modal spectral analysis, respecting the provisions of the E.030 earthquake-resistant standard. Through the ETABS software it was possible to carry out the analysis and obtain the results of both the existing home and its projection in the event of an earthquake. In addition, the cracking verification of the load-bearing walls and the design of the column and base beam were carried out following the criteria of the Peruvian standard E.070. In the projection of the home, it was verified that the drifts comply with what is established in the standard since they are less than 0.005 (according to standard E.030). Furthermore, depending on the design of the column and base beam, the projection is feasible because the dimensions of these confinement elements comply with the requirements of standard E.070.
