This research analyzes a mining company dedicated to gold extraction and sales, where an issue was identified in the crushing line, specifically with the Telsmith 5X16 JCI ZV007 vibrating screen. This equipment experiences numerous unplanned stoppages, reducing production capacity and resulting in an annual loss of $31,095,540, equivalent to 17.89% of total sales. The screen's availability is at 86.3%, lower than the 95% world-class standard. Analyses indicate that the mean time between failures (MTBF) is 25.7 hours, and the mean time to repair (MTTR) is 4 hours, values attributed to the lack of preventive maintenance and adequate planning. The primary causes of this low performance include the absence of systematic preventive maintenance and delays in repairs. As a solution, the implementation of Lean Manufacturing philosophy is proposed, utilizing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tools with autonomous and preventive maintenance, the 5S system to improve order and cleanliness, and SMED to reduce downtime during screen maintenance. These measures aim to increase machinery availability and optimize production in the crushing line.
