Background: High-performance sport makes demands on the cognitive and emotional processes of athletes; therefore, it is important that athletes know how to better manage their emotions and behaviors, in order to have optimal sports performance. For this reason, coping in sport is a cornerstone for athletes, since its purpose is to regulate emotions, through self-control and the search for support. Objective: Determine the association between coping in sport and irrational beliefs in volleyball players from the National Superior Volleyball League. Method: 160 female athletes from 18 to 40 years of age active in the LNSV. Likewise, the research is empirical, cross-sectional, with an associative strategy, with a correlational design. Results: The variable coping in sport has a moderate positive correlation with irrational beliefs in volleyball players from the LNSV. Conclusions: The dimensions of coping in sport are related to irrational beliefs in LNSV volleyball players; Among these, emotional calm, risky behaviors and seeking support were significantly related to at least one irrational belief; while active planning and mental withdrawal did so moderately.
