The high demand and high cost of housing in Lima has led many low-income families to build their homes without the intervention of professionals and technicians in charge, putting the physical integrity of the occupants at risk. Some of the structural systems poorly used and executed in these self-built houses are the confined masonry and reinforced concrete porticos. For this reason, the main objective of this work is to be analysed and design a 4-story building with a mixed structural system, confined masonry and reinforced concrete frames, following the recommendations of the current regulations for seismic-resistant design. The structuring and pre-dimensioning of this building was carried out for each direction of analysis considering the recommendations given by the regulations; the modelling and load assignment, for its subsequent analysis, was carried out with the ETABS V22 software. The results obtained were used to design the structural elements of the masonry and reinforced concrete frames. From the results obtained in this work, it is concluded that the use of the mixed structural system allows us to obtain a rigid and earthquake resistant structure in both directions, in addition to covering large spans without conflicting the architecture with the structure. In addition, a significant economic saving is achieved in its construction, as opposed to a single structural system of reinforced concrete frames, which makes it more accessible to low-income families and thus provides an alternative to stop the self-construction of houses.
