Currently, in Peru, exists a water demand, which government entities seek to solve through hydraulic infrastructure. Specifically, for irrigation, a conglomerate of dams has been proposed; however, at a technical level, there is evidence of ignorance of the guidelines that govern their design. Consequently, works are built that are vulnerable to several factors that can cause their failure. This work focused on the stability analysis of the slopes of the Iruro dam, which has been paralyzed for many years due to social and political conflicts. A three-dimensional analysis was proposed given that, dams are affected by the shape of the topography. Slope3D software was used to calculate its safety factor for different events that may affect the integrity of the dam. Regarding the results, it was concluded that the dam is stable against the imposed stresses; however, given the inertial forces produced by earthquakes, there is the possibility of shadow surfaces. It is emphasized that such slides would not cause the dam to fail unless it is maintained. In this way, a three-dimensional analysis allows a better understanding of the possible failure surfaces for large-scale structures.
