Accidents caused by tailings storage facilities have been increasing due to the rise in global mining activities. Due to their high risk, these deposits must be continuously monitored, and their stability is evaluated through a slope stability analysis, which must meet the required minimum safety factor. However, it’s not taken into account that there is no absolute certainty regarding soil resistance parameters. For this reason, it is essential to conduct an analysis considering the variation of the parameters that make up the structure and identify the most critical scenario. In this project, a probabilistic analysis is carried out considering the variability of geotechnical parameters to determine the reliability of the mining structure. The results of the deterministic analysis show that the tailings dam is stable under drained, pseudo-static, and post-seismic conditions. Additionally, after performing the probabilistic analysis, a failure probability of 0.01% is estimated under drained conditions and 10% under post-seismic conditions. We can conclude that although the deposit is being evaluated under drained conditions, the value obtained under post-seismic conditions indicates that the performance of the deposit is hazardous. Therefore, monitoring and maintenance should continue to prevent any sliding or failure.
