Objective: to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and preventive practices regarding arterial hypertension in patients attending a public health facility, 2024. Materials and Methods: a quantitative approach was followed, with a non-experimental, descriptive-correlational, and cross-sectional design. The population and sample consisted of 119 patients diagnosed with arterial hypertension. The technique used was a survey, and the instruments were validated questionnaires for each variable. Results: 61.3% of the patients had a regular level of knowledge, 26.1% had a good level of knowledge, and 12.6% had a poor level of knowledge. Regarding preventive practices, 49.6% of the patients demonstrated regular practices, 30.3% adopted adequate practices, while 20.2% followed inadequate practices. The Chi-Square test resulted in a p-value of 0.002, which is less than the established significance level of 0.05. Conclusions: there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and preventive practices regarding arterial hypertension in patients attending a public health facility.
