The present research had as general objective, to determine the level of relationship that exists between metacognitive strategies and self-esteem according to students of the third cycle of the Technological University of Peru, Lima, 2016; Regarding its methodology, it was a quantitative approach, a descriptive, correlate, non-experimental and transectional design, applying for data collection two questionnaires to a sample of 132 students, one to determine the perception of the use of metacognitive strategies and the other on the level of self-esteem that students have. It was formulated as the main hypothesis that if there is a significant relationship between metacognitive strategies and self-esteem according to students of the third cycle of the Technological University of Peru, Lima, 2016, verifying through the statistical test called Spearman's rho that there is indeed a significantly moderate relationship , where the value 0.734 was found, which is why the variables are concluded if they are related, metacognitive strategies and self- esteem of the students of the III cycle of the Technological University of Peru, Lima, 2016.
