The purpose of the research was to determine the relationship between self-esteem and emotional intelligence in students in the sixth grade of primary School N° 5036 of Callao. Variable self-esteem has four dimensions: Ego general or himself, social peers, home- parents and school- academic. The variable emotional intelligence has five dimensions: interpersonal, adaptability, stress management and general mood. The focus of the work was quantitative, whose type of research was descriptive and correal because the main objective was to measure the degree of relationship that may occur between the variables The type of sampling was intentional and the number was 54 students in the 6th grade. Two instruments were applied to collect the data, Stanley Coopersmith’s Original School Self- Esteem Adapted Inventory and BarOn’s Adapted Emotional Intelligence Inventory. It was concluded that there is no significant relationship between self-esteem and emotional in sixth grade students of the Callao Educational Institution No. 5036, since Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient was equal to 0.272 indicating that the correlation is positively low.
