This research is about the Communicative Language Teaching Methodology and Academic Performance in students of Basic Level at the Language Center of Andina Private University, Cusco, 2016. The purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between the Communicative language teaching methodology and academic performance in students of Basic Level at the Language Center of Andina Private University, Cusco, 2016. Specifically, the study was intended to assess students’ listening comprehension though the use of some communicative activities in class. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, a descriptive method was used. The data were collected by means of questionnaires and score register of 42 students of the first cycle. Based on the information collected through the above instruments and its analysis and interpretation, the findings of the study indicated that the use of the communication methodology of teaching is significantly related to the academic performance of the students of the Basic level of the Language Center of Andina Private University of Cusco, 2016. That is to say that the better the use of the communicative methodology of teaching, there will be higher levels of academic performance, also according to the Spearman correlation of 0,675, it represents a mean positive correlation; likewise, if we raise r2, we obtain the variance of common factors r2 = 0,456, therefore there is a shared variance of 45,6%.
