The objective of this research work was to evaluate the influence of the PBL method on student learning in the subject of Stomatological Medicine and Imaging III in the period 2017 - I of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. The sample was made up of 2 groups: PBL method (Experimental) and Traditional method (Control), 16 students participated in each of them. The following hypothesis was formulated: the application of the PBL method significantly influences the learning of the subject. The approach of this research was quantitative, with a quasi-experimental design. The results showed that in the pretest the experimental group obtained an average of 37.44 ± 3.27 and the control group of 38 ± 3.35 and for the posttest, an average of 68 ± 0.82 and 52.44 ± 2.66 for each group, respectively. It is concluded that the application of the PBL method significantly improves learning compared to the traditional method in students of this subject; Therefore, its application is recommended.
