The objective of this research work was to know the relationship between the Alternative conceptions and scientific skills in students of the Biology course in the professional career of Education with a specialty in Biology from the University National Institute of Education Enrique Guzmán y Valle. The study is included in the quantitative approach, of a non-experimental type, and its design is correlational. The sample It was made up of 40 students from the IV, VI and VIII cycle. The variables under study were evaluated by means of an objective test contextualized in a situation problem of high cognitive demand. The variable alternative conceptions made up by 13 items and scientific skills by 11 items. As a result of the analysis descriptive study, it is concluded that the persistence and permanence of alternative conceptions in the students they are in the average level and in scientific abilities they achieved reach an average level. From the inferential analysis, it is concluded that there is evidence that a relationship between alternative conceptions and scientific skills at scale overall, with the Pearson correlation index=0.25 statistically significant, pvalue = 0.01 < 0.05. It implies that alternative conceptions are correlated and, in Consequently, there is an affectation to the development of scientific skills in the sample in study.
