The objective of this research is to investigate the relationship between teaching competencies and motivation towards academic activities of teachers from three public educational institutions in Comas. The research was conducted according to the guidelines of the quantitative approach, it was basic and correlational level, with a cross-sectional design. The Teacher Competence Assessment Questionnaire and the Multidimensional Work Motivation Scale were used to collect information; instruments that were corroborated in content validity and reliability with the coefficient v of validity and the coefficient alpha of reliability. The collected data were processed with the Pearson parametric test (r). The results showed the existence of a strong positive relationship between teaching competencies and motivation of the surveyed teachers. With differences in degree, the sign and magnitude of the relationship between these variables was also found in the relationships of the dimensions of conduction and assessment of the teaching-learning process, and planning and management of the teaching-learning process of the teaching competencies, with the variable motivation towards academic activities. The level of findings was statistically significant at a probability of 0.01.
