The objective of this research work is to investigate with quantitative methodology the link between motivation to study and academic procrastination in a probabilistic sample of 177 students from the Faculty of Education of the Universidad Nacional del Altiplano, who answered a scale and a questionnaire about the variables investigated. The data collected in the field work were analyzed with the non-parametric statistic Spearman's Rho coefficient, finding as a result the existence of a moderate negative association of motivation to study with academic procrastination. However, at the level of corroboration of the specific hypotheses, the degree of correlation between the variable motivation and the dimensions of academic procrastination varied. In this sense, the existence of moderate negative correlations between motivation and the dimensions procrastination in academic tasks and procrastination in individual academic delay was observed; low negative correlations between motivation to study and the dimensions procrastination in individual academic improvement and procrastination in doing several things at once without postponing them; and a strong negative correlation of motivation with the individual academic commitment dimension. The results are also statistically significant at a probability level p <0.05.
