The objective of this research was to explore the relationship between self-esteem and academic performance in mathematics in fourth grade students at Roosevelt College in Rioja San Martin. To carry out this research, a quantitative approach was used, with a non-experimental design, at a correlational level that seeks to analyze the possible connection between both variables. The data were obtained through the use of standardized questionnaires designed to assess the level of self-esteem of students, as well as through the collection of scores obtained in mathematics tests. The results obtained revealed a statistically significant association between self-esteem and performance in mathematics, suggesting that those students with higher self-esteem tend to have better performance in this discipline. These findings point to the importance of fostering positive self-esteem in students as an integral part of efforts aimed at improving their learning in mathematics. In summary, this study highlights the relevance of considering psychological aspects such as self-esteem in the context of students' academic development.
