Objective: to evaluate the hypoglycemic effect of Neltuma pallida (Carob) pods and leaves extract on Rattus novergicus Holtzman Methods: 9 groups of 5 rats each were randomly distributed as follows: White group (saline), Negative group (alloxan), Positive group (alloxan + glibenclamide 5 mg/kg), Experimental groups: Dose 1 (alloxane + pod extract 500 mg/kg), Dose 2 (alloxane + pod extract 250 mg/kg), Dose 3 (alloxane + pod extract 100 mg/kg), Dose 4 (alloxane + leaf extract 500mg/kg), Dose 5 (alloxane + leaf extract 250 mg/kg ) and Dose 6 (alloxane + leaf extract 100mg/kg) Results: significant hypoglycemic effect of Neltuma pallida (carob) pods extract at dose 500 mg/Kg (α<0.05) at 24 hours and Neltuma pallida (carob) leaves extract at dose 250 mg/Kg (α<0.05) at 24 hours was evidenced Conclusion: the hypoglycemic effect of Neltuma pallida (carob) pods and leaves extract was evaluated in Rattus novergicus obtaining favorable results in a protective effect by mitigating the hyperglycemic effect of alloxan
