The purpose of this research work is to determine the use of didactic material prepared by the teacher and its impact on the cognitive development in the area of mathematics of 4-year-old boys and girls. The population on which the research was carried out consisted of 1 teacher and 14 students among boys and girls from the Educational Institution No. 77 of the district of Huayllati - Grau province - Apurímac. For this, a qualitative research and an ethnographic design were used. In addition, the collection of information has been carried out through the instruments of the observation interview and checklist in an approximate period of 40 days. The interview was directed especially to the classroom teacher. Meanwhile, the observation sheet and the checklist were aimed at both the teacher and the students in order to show more closely the activities and results. Based on the research that has been done, the results obtained show that unstructured didactic materials influence the cognitive development of children in the 4-year-old classroom of the Huayllati district.
