This research work is entitled "Local stories and development of reading comprehension in an EIB primary school in the Minascucho community, Apurímac region". The objective of the research was to explore the methodology applied by the teachers in the incorporation of local stories in class sessions for the development of reading comprehension in fifth and sixth grade students of an EI in the Minascucho community, Apurímac region. The field of study was the community of Minascucho, in the Apurímac region. The qualitative research approach and the ethnomethodological method were used. The instruments used were the semi-structured interview guide and the observation guide. The target population consisted of fifth and sixth grade students, teachers from the educational institution, and wise men from the community. The results of the research show that the methodology applied by the teacher in the development of reading comprehension is not relevant to the sociocultural context of the students, even though the EIB educational approach requires a situated educational practice that does not incorporate local stories. On the contrary, this educational approach is isolated, disconnecting from the reality of the students, and continuing with the traditional educational model.
