The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between sleep habits and academic performance and each of the three dimensions of sleep habits (quality of sleep, stability in sleep habits and daytime sleepiness) and academic performance in undergraduate students at a peruvian university of Metropolitan Lima. The study was developed following a non-experimental, correlational and translational design. The sample consisted of undergraduate students enrolled in the 2015 II semester of the morning shift and who were studying the subject of Theology II. The instruments used were the Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CHAS – Cuestionario de Hábitos de Sueño) and the weighted averages of the semester of the students. The content of the CHAS questionnaire was validated through the criteria of judges. The research results demonstrated the existence of a low, positive and statistically significant relationship (rs = 0.130; p = 0.018) between sleep habits and academic performance of undergraduate students. Of the three dimensions pertaining to sleep habits, only one of them, sleep quality, is related to academic performance in a low, positive and statistically significant way (rs = 0.217; p = 0.012).
