This research addresses debate as a strategy for developing argumentation and criticality in the "Delibera on public affairs" capacity that answers the following question: How does debate as a strategy, develop argumentation and criticality in the "Delibera on public affairs" capacity in 5th grade secondary students of a private school in Lima?In this research, a general objective and two specific objectives are proposed that guide to the present study on debate as a strategy to develop argumentation and criticality. The methodological approach is qualitative, experimental type, explanatory and evaluative level and action research method. The technique is Focus Groups; the instrument is Focus Groups semi structure script. The debate develops criticality and argumentation in Regular Basic Educationstudents. It is also a relevant strategy for dealing with national and international public affairs. It also develops social, personal, cognitive and psychological skills such as research, collaborative work, empathy, respect, self-confidence and confidence, effective development in public, mental agility, oratory, deepening thesubject and significant learning. Therefore, it is suggested that the debate would be used in all areas of basic education to promote these skills.
