The present study aims to establish the relationship between the perception that directors and teachers have about the leadership exercised by the directors of schools in the province of Cotabambas, with the levels of achievement of students in the fourth grade of primary education. This is a quantitative, descriptive comparative investigation. The information collection was carried out at the end of 2018, through a questionnaire of thirty items grouped in two dimensions: i) management of basic conditions, ii) orientations of the pedagogical processes. Instrument that was applied to the teachers and directors of selected schools, obtaining as a result, the leadership levels, which were related to the achievement levels of the fourth grade students, information obtained from the Census Evaluation of Students of the years 2016 and 2018. Research shows that principals have a positive and slight overestimation of their leadership and the results show that there is a relationship with the improvement of student learning at the satisfactory level. Therefore, the director's self-perception allows him to carry out a “reflective practice” on the exercise of his leadership; and thus, favor a positive attitude towards learning.
