The present investigation titled "Importance of the Technologies of the Information and Communication in the education of the Geology in the National University of Engineering" realized in Peru with a group conformed by students of pre-degree and regular teachers of the Faculty of Geological Engineering. The general objective of the study was to analyze the academic importance of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) applied to the teaching of the General Geology course at the National University of Engineering. For the development of this qualitative research, of basic type, we worked through the technique of the focus groups with 10 students and through personal interviews with 10 teachers; the purpose was to obtain necessary information regarding the importance that they give to the use of ICT in their professional training. In the results that concern the students, it was found that ICTs are very useful for them, since they make their learning processes simpler, such as the visualization of geological phenomena at a national and international level and resolve, to a great extent, a large amount of academic problems. In agreement with the results obtained by the teachers, it was found that they perceive ICT as a phenomenon that has revolutionized, to a large extent, the teaching-learning process, leading to the construction of a more dynamic environment where interactive learning experiences are perceived. Therefore, it is concluded that both teachers and students, that the insertion of ICT in their academic work has greatly benefited their educational training, also, both actors assume joint responsibility for the appropriate use of Information Technology and Communication in higher education.
