In the present research work the issue of Extrajudicial Conciliation in family proceeding is developed, starting from the explanation of the MARC's - Alternative Methods of Conflict Resolution, to then focus specifically on the conciliation as a conflict resolution mechanism. Likewise, the historical and legal evolution of the conciliation is developed, with the purpose of being able to discover how its different forms of application have gone through time until reaching the way it is known and executed today. Once the definition of the MARC's and the conciliation is explained, the issue of the Extrajudicial Conciliation in the family proceeding is developed, being where the research problem arises because it tries to determine if it really is an alternative method of conflict resolution, is if useful for resolving disputes of a family if it prevents them from taking do the judicial system. Likewise, what is sought is to determine if the conciliation serves as a reduction tool of the procedural burden of the specialized family courts, starting with the study of its use and real effectiveness for the resolution of family conflicts. Thus, in order to have an answer to the problem raised, interviews were conducted with four groups of interviewees (lawyers, conciliators, court personnel and users), analyzing their answers in the fourth and final chapter, resulting in the conclusions and recommendations developed in the last pages of this thesis.
