The present research analyzes the perceptions of Peruvian therapist from the TAE Peru institute and Arte-terapia Peru about photography as a therapeutic tool. Photography is widely used in the field of health. In art therapy, previous international studies demonstrate its efficacy within the therapeutic process and techniques have even been developed for its application. In spite of this, in Peru there is a lack of information both in research and in offering the use of photography in art therapy. Therefore, the objective of this study is to promote its use in a psychotherapeutic context. The methodology to be employed is of qualitative approach, centered on a phenomenological paradigm and design. This allowed us to learn about the experiences and opinions of each participant. To collect the information, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 13 Peruvian therapists from the TAE and Arte-terapia Perú institutes. Subsequently, a thematic analysis was made to learn about their perceptions and identify possible correlations in the responses. As a result, it was observed that Peruvian therapists consider photography as a useful, innovative and promising tool that allows the expression of patients' emotions through another language.
