This investigation had as a study the construction of 5 retaining walls in the Chicchuy I.E, which is located in the district of Amarilis in the city of Huánuco. These walls presented deficiencies in the designs proposed in the technical file, which were observed during their construction process. These deficiencies arose due to the lack of consideration of the climate and seismicity of the area. Initially, the design of the retaining walls built was verified, as well as the soil parameters used in the analysis to corroborate the information. Through this verification, it was possible to observe that the soil parameters found in this report and those of the Chicchuy soil study of 2017 were similar in the fill soil, however, these varied for the foundation soil. Likewise, in the analysis of static and pseudo-static stability of the built walls, it was found that the cantilevered walls did not comply with the minimum slip safety factor. Therefore, it was decided to redesign the retaining walls and propose a hydraulic drainage to avoid hydrostatic pressure. The last design made for the 5 retaining walls met the safety factors required for static and pseudo-static analysis. Likewise, the French drain was proposed to avoid the accumulation of water in the back of the walls. Finally, comparisons were made between the proposed walls and built walls, where it was obtained that the proposed walls present greater stability, as well as an economic saving regarding to the built walls.
