Community Psychology is concerned, among other issues, in promoting the integral development of people in vulnerable situations. Otherwise, the participation of female adolescents in crimes and their processes of detention are psychosocial problems that require a differentiated intervention to achieve their community reinsertion, which must include the gender perspective. This research describes and differentiates conceptions of being a woman, in adolescents and educators of the Centro Juvenil de Mujeres (CJM), a Girls Detentions Center in Peru; thus reflecting on the image of being a woman promoted by the educators. A qualitative methodology was used. Discussion groups and in-depth interviews were conducted for girl offenders in detention and their educators. We found that both adolescents and educators have conceptions about being a woman related to a traditional gender role; which is linked to the educator’s role since they promote this perspective through the rehabilitation and community reinsertion actions they developed in the CJM.
