To determine the factors associated with the adequacy of therapeutic measures in the COVID intensive care unit of the Virgen de la Puerta High Complexity Hospital in the period from June 2021 to January 2022. Material and methods: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was applied, with a sample of 132 patients in the period from June 2021 to January 2022. The adequacy of therapeutic measures was used as the dependent variable and the age, sex and religion of the patient as independent variables; degree of family education, patient comorbidities, hospital stay, APACHE II, TISS-28 and patient dependency. Excel or SPSS version 26 software was used for data processing. The Chi-square test and Fisher's Exact Test were used to establish the association between factors and adequacy of therapeutic measures. The association was considered significant when the probability of being wrong was less than 5% (p<0.05). Results: From a universe of 132 patients, it was found that in 17 relatives of patients there was knowledge about the adequacy of therapeutic measures (AMT) and in the remaining 115 they had no knowledge about these measures. In the patients with adequacy, it was evidenced that regarding age: 10 patients were between 73 to 89 years old, 4 patients between 58 to 72 years old and 3 patients between 43 to 57 years old; Regarding hospital stay, it was found that, in patients with more than 7 days hospitalized, 16 family members were aware of this measure vs 1 family member who did not know; Regarding APACHE II: When the score was greater than 24 points, 15 family members were aware of these measures vs. 2 family members who were unaware. When comparing this group of patients aware of AMT with relatives who did not know these measures and performing the multivariate analysis, it was shown that all these variables had a significant difference (p<0.01); no significant difference was found with the 6 variables: sex, religion, level of education, comorbidity and degree of dependency. Conclusion: age, hospital stay and APACHE II Severity Score were found as factors associated with the adequacy of therapeutic measures in the COVID intensive care unit of the the Virgen de la Puerta High Complexity Hospital in the period from June 2021 to January 2022
