The present study aims to measure the level of teamwork (TE) competence of the students of the ten cycles of the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Art (FAUA) of the Antenor Orrego Private University (UPAO), Trujillo campus, Peru, during the first semester of 2017. According to the proposed hypothesis, the level of TE competence of the students is initially low (cycles I-VI) and increases positively and significantly in the second half of the career (cycles VII-X). The design used in the research is non-experimental or descriptive and transversal, and the type of research - according to level of depth or scope of knowledge - is descriptive. A poll was applied to a sample of 313 on a population of 1678 students, to evaluate the seven dimensions that compose the inquired competence: organization, goal, planning, participation, selfassessment, communication and cohesion. Despite what is normally observed in university practice, the results reveal that students possess a remarkable theoretical knowledge of the dynamics of TE competence in the learning process (they know it, but they do not). In addition, in contrast to the hypothesis formulated, it can be seen how the TE competence level turns out to be constantly very high and does not register significant differences between the first one (cycles I-VI) and the second part of the career (cycles VII-X).
