The present investigation sought to describe how the data verification process was in the informative notes carried out by the digital media of the Piura region: Diario El Regional de Piura, Noticias Piura, Walac Noticias, Temis Perú and Pirhua.pe, in the first three months of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020. For this, a descriptive design investigation was chosen, in which the structured interview was used, which consisted of 17 questions. The instrument was applied to the representatives of each digital media. Likewise, reality was observed through an observation guide and this tool had 30 items. Finally, the results were analyzed to determine how the verification process was. This study was carried out with a sample of 29 news items that were published by the analyzed digital media on social networks and/or on their website. Through the results, it was verified that the digital media of Piura analyzed did not carry out an adequate verification of data in the notes referring to the COVID-19 pandemic, in the first three months of isolation, since they did not comply with the recommendations of the experts. cited in this research, or in some cases they did it halfway. This affected the journalistic quality of the publications. In the in-depth interview it was evident that the work of journalists was also undermined by the pandemic, the same one that was so critical even for communication professionals, who in many cases also avoided taking to the streets to report so as not to expose themselves
