The objective of this research study was to assess the effectiveness of a learner training program based on the 3-stage sequence (PDP) in order to improve third year secondary school students’ speaking skills at Rosa Agustina Donayre de Morey school, Iquitos 2019. The type of research was experimental, prospective, longitudinal, and analytical and quasi experimental design with pre-test, post-test and control group. The study population was made up by 401 students and a deterministic sample of 61, divided into two groups: Experimental group with 31 students and control group with 31 students. The data collection tool was an oral performance test with 80.8% validity and a reliability of 82.4%. The post-test results show that the experimental group outperformed the control group as their media scores were 15.32 > 12.00. The same was for the indicators: Pronunciation (14.96 > 12.36), fluency (14.90 > 11.93), vocabulary (15.74 > 12.23), grammar (16.09 > 12.40) and body language (15.41 > 11.36).
