The objective of this study is the implementation of improvements to the procurement management of a private university of Lima Metropolitana. Due to the relevance of this area, optimal management will allow the company to obtain greater savings. This research is non-experimental and descriptive and uses the following main techniques: (i) observation: the analyzed information was obtained through the use of the ERP People Software and processed in Excel; (ii) interviews to the personal who works in the procurement area. Based on the objectives of the procurement area, an initial diagnostic was performed, which helped to identify the main problems, to later implement improvements to their activities. The improvements performed were the following: • Strengthening of key performance indicators for procurement management. • Implementation of electronic biddings and competitive agreements for the purchase of routine goods in order to improve negotiation. In addition, the use of a new tool, the Krajlic Matrix was proposed, which will serve to establish procurement strategies based on the type of good to be purchased. As a result, improvements to the management of the procurement area were achieved, which allowed the performance of the area and the achievement of its objectives.
