Family involvement and augmentative and alternative communication systems in children with cerebral palsy were investigated. The information search was carried out in scientific journals such as Scopus, Scielo, Proquest and Ebsco. The language of these articles was in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The investigations were quantitative, mostly descriptive or correlational. All tests used were reliable in measuring family engagement and SAACs, in some cases as adaptations or reductions. Although it is true that there is a methodological deficit, which has been a limitation in terms of the search for papers that support the objective of this article, it continues to be important because it touches on significant issues such as communication, the role played by family in this process, as well as the population that is intended to be addressed. There is a low number of investigations that specifically measure the relationship between family involvement and SAAC. From those found, it can be concluded that the involvement of parents in the education of their children is essential for them to have a satisfactory performance. And also the fact that the parents are present will be essential to achieve mastery of the SAACs.
