The main objective of the study was to establish the risk of malnutrition in older adults with hospitalization according to feeding, clinical and social factors. It was a quantitative, correlational, retrospective, cross-sectional study; the sample was made up of 130 older adults admitted during 2017; data processing was performed in the SPSS 25 program; The Chi square test was used to determine the association between variables. The results showed that the risk of malnutrition occurred in a greater proportion in those older adults who fed with difficulty (51.9%), however the ability to feed was not a factor significantly associated with the risk of malnutrition (p = 0.058). On the other hand, cancer as a concomitant disease was associated with the risk of malnutrition (p = 0.019), this was more frequent in older adults at risk of malnutrition (19.2%) than in older adults without risk (5%). Finally, it was found that the risk of malnutrition was presented in greater percentages among adults of female sex, married, housewives, with secondary or higher education, however no significant association was found. In conclusion, the risk of malnutrition was mainly in older adults who had a diagnosis of cancer, which was an associated factor.
