In the context of the dynamics of world trade, this research aims to determine the effect of international export prices on the economic profitability of national exporting companies in Peru during the period 1997-2021. A causal-longitudinal approach is adopted to examine how export prices (independent variable) affect profitability (dependent variable) over time, using a descriptive and quantitative method with a non-experimental design. The data comes from the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, the World Bank and the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration. The research covers a census, analyzing monthly aggregate export data of these companies from 1997 to 2021, resulting in 298 observations. The findings, based on regression analysis, reveal that an increase in export prices leads to a significant improvement in profitability, being particularly notable in non-traditional exporters. An increase in export prices boosts profitability by 5% for non-traditional exports, a result statistically significant at the 1% level. For total exports, the increase in profitability is 3.9% during the period studied. Furthermore, it is identified that export tariffs have a negative impact on profitability, with a notable decrease in the face of tariff increases. On the other hand, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) show a positive effect on profitability, highlighting the benefits of such agreements.
