The properties of soft soils in Cusco cause instability in the foundation soil of structures, mostly with the settlement that occurs in shallow foundations, so human intervention is necessary in the different branches leaning geotechnical engineering. This paper aims to have a concrete methodology for improving mechanical shallow foundation for cohesive soils in order to reduce the settlement in the foundation of a structure. According to EMS the natural terrain of the shallow foundation of abutments Chimpahuaylla Bridge, which did not comply with the right features two design shallow foundation, therefore a mechanical soil improvement was conducted through the use of geogrids and stone columns in order to reduce their settlement of the shallow foundation in Chimpahuaylla bridge abutments during the construction process.
