Introduction: The evaluation of family functioning allows observing the relationship between its members and to achieve this, there is an instrument called the Modified Family Functioning Scale (EFFAMO). It is considered that there are no quantitative studies in Peru using this scale. Objective: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Modified Family Functioning Scale with the participation of 500 parents from Metropolitan Lima (25 to 45 years old). Method: This research has a quantitative instrumental approach and parents were selected by convenience sampling [mean age 36.2 years] (SD = 6.40). Discussion: The Modified Family Functioning Scale demonstrates high validity and reliability indexes, in accordance with the objective, given that its internal consistency is adequate and exceeds the minimum expected values (0.70). According to the limitations, as it is a non-probabilistic convenience sample, it will not be possible to visualize the results of each participant, because it is not a representative sample and it is anonymous. Among the contributions, this scale can benefit the Peruvian population by being used in the clinical area in a preventive and promotional way to identify possible parental problems and to see how family cohesion is presented in Peruvian families.
