The purpose of this project is to propose an improvement in the occupational health and safety management system (OSH) in a metalworking company. The improvement of the SST seeks to implement various measures necessary for the prevention of risks, seeking to maintain safe conditions for the worker in the development of their activities. The metal-mechanic sector has grown considerably due to the increase in internal demand generated by economic development and investment by private and public companies. However, in Peru, the safety conditions in this industry are deficient, producing high rates of occupational accidents, which could even lead to death. For this reason, it seeks to establish a method of continuous improvement to reduce occupational accidents in OSH processes in a metal-mechanic company in Lima, through the application of the PDCA cycle and behavior-based safety (SBC). The PDCA cycle helps us to standardize the SST processes, in such a way that actions will be planned, the established actions will be carried out, then said actions will be verified and finally they will act again if there are problems in the course. The SBC helps us to identify and record the critical behaviors of collaborators. These observed behaviors are stored and processed to ultimately provide feedback to staff on the expected safe behavior. By applying this technique, it will be possible to minimize unsafe behaviors and reduce the number of accidents. In the present project, the execution and result of the implementation of both tools are shown as an alternative to reduce the rate of occupational accidents in a metal-mechanic company.
