This research focuses on a company in the plastic sector that is dedicated to the production and sale of PET containers. In the diagnosis made, the company presents an efficiency indicator of 71.67%, which is below the standard value of companies in the plastic sector of 85%. Likewise, the economic impact of the problem is due to the penalties for late deliveries, overtime costs, which generate 4.41% of the total billing. In this way, it can be concluded that the problem is the low efficiency in the PET bottle line. The causes identified in the problem were measured based on time, these are: unproductive times, machine stops and excessive time for SETUP that represent 14.54%, 57.61% and 27.85% respectively. According to the prioritization carried out by the Pareto diagram, the most significant root causes are delays due to disorganization at the work station, equipment breakdowns due to electrical failure and delays in changing molds. Various investigations propose to solve these problems through the Lean Manufacturing Philosophy. However, the background reflects that the implementation of this philosophy in the plastic industry is scarce. Therefore, this research proposes to link the 5S methodology and the study of methods, integrate autonomous - preventive maintenance and finally implement the SMED tool, thus improving the efficiency in the Pet bottle production line.
