The investigation assumed as objective to determine the relationship between reading comprehension and academic performance in the oral communication course in the students of the second cycle of the Initial Education specialty of the Private Higher Pedagogical Education entity ""Oxford"" Trujillo, during the semester 2022-II. The design is descriptive, correlational. The sample consisted of 24 students chosen at random to whom a reading comprehension questionnaire (Test Bas) was applied, likewise the weighted average was used in the oral communication course and the test, respectively. The results indicate that there is a high positive correlation between reading comprehension and academic performance with a (Spearman's Rho of 0.857) showing evidence of a highly significant correlation (p<0.001); a good level of reading comprehension at 50.00% and a good level of academic performance at 54.17% highly striking, likewise a moderate positive correlation between the literal dimension and academic performance (Spearman's Rho = 0.638), strong positive correlation between the inferential dimension and academic performance (Spearman's Rho = 754) and finally a strong positive correlation between the criterion dimension and academic performance (Spearman's Rho = 0.783)
