The present research consists of the identification and analysis of the present conditions of a family business in the veterinary sector in order to identify the most important shortcomings that affect it. Using the problem tree tool, it was possible to identify and analyze the main problem of the organization, which is the weak organizational structure of the company under study. One of the main causes of the problem in question is the operation of the company based on empirical knowledge, since whose are in charge of managing it don’t have academic knowledge in business management. All of this results in a decrease in sales and business losses caused by errors in manufacturing, because of ignorance of the functions of collaborators and heads of each area. The research was carried out based on the case study methodology, getting information from different sources, such as interviews with members of the Board of Directors, internal company documents, background of the operation of family businesses and a review of existing methodologies related to business administration. This research allowed us to find two proposals for solutions based on methodologies of strategic planning and organizational design, focused to the manufacturing area of the product with the greatest demand, keeping the objective that in the future the application of the chosen solution becomes applicable to another areas of the company. To choose one of the solutions, it was necessary to develop the Feasibility-Impact matrix, where the level of impact and feasibility is diagnosed according to the scores assigned in the evaluation criteria according to the organization under study. This matrix was reviewed together with the Administrative Manager, who indicated whats theirs priority of attention for the first phase of the implementation of the solution. Therefore, we were able to conclude that the most feasible is not always the most urgent or necessary to fulfil the organizational objectives; However, in this particular case it is recommended to apply both solutions and apply them in the medium term to the entire organization.
