The necessity to have the critical equipment of a mining concentrator plant in Peru available for as long as possible is increasingly required to the point that not being within world-class levels is not acceptable as it represents missing the opportunity of a higher production. Considering that mining is currently one of the main economic activities of the country as a contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) and the increase in the price of copper, this important and necessary need becomes urgent. This research develops the RCM methodology for the maintenance of automatic filter presses in a copper mine with the aim of influencing the increase in the availability of this equipment. As part of the investigation, relevant national and international antecedents are mentioned, the operational context of the studied equipment is identified. Subsequently, a criticality analysis of the equipment of the filtering plant under study is carried out to identify the most critical equipment, the failures of the equipment under study are identified, ordering them according to their impact on the availability of the equipment considering the hours of detention that generate and the RCM analysis is carried out for the maintenance of the equipment under study. Next, a projection of the increase in the availability of automatic filter presses is made, eliminating the hours of inactivity caused by functional failures that would be overcome after implementing the strategies that were had as a result of the RCM. Likewise, a projection of the opportunity for additional economic gain that this increase in equipment availability would represent is shown. Finally, the results obtained are discussed, the conclusions and recommendations are shown indicating if the objective of the research is fulfilled and if the hypothesis is validated.
