Quality management is currently of great importance in different projects, so quality assurance and control at all stages of a project ensure favorable results and these are reflected in the compliance and satisfaction of the end customer. The present research is oriented to improve the quality of welding in the installation of ASTM A106 steel pipes in combined cycle thermal power plants, through the proposal of quality assurance based on applicable building codes and the verification of microstructural homogeneity, reducing cost overruns and reprocessing. The development of this work makes use of the different applicable building codes and international specifications such as ASME, ASNT and ASTM, in order to establish control guidelines in the pipe installation process to improve the quality of the weld. Within this framework, inspections are carried out with the help of non-destructive tests, welding procedures and qualified welders, likewise, thermal treatments of preheating, post-heating are used and a metallurgical investigation is carried out to verify the microstructural homogeneity of the material. Finally, the economic analysis of quality assurance is carried out.
