The present work through the implementation of a safety program based on behavior has as main objective to reduce the percentage of unsafe behaviors and improve the satisfaction of workers in the area of operations of an open-pit mining unit. Train and train our team of observers so that they can perform in the best way during the program process, observation techniques, such as confronting the occurrence of an insecure, feedback, etc. A population of 80 workers of a mining company was studied, in order to analyze the effect of the behavior-based safety program in the areas of operations. In order to obtain the data, 2 surveys were conducted, the first at the beginning of the program and the second at the end with the objective of analyzing and comparing and to evaluate the behaviors, direct observation was made in the field and the changes were analyzed in a period of 6 months. The investigation concludes that behavior-based safety has a positive influence on improving safe behaviors and the satisfaction of workers in the mine operations area. This was also achieved by improving leadership and communication between the entire levels of the organization, a work environment was created where there was more trust, participation, collaboration and communication between workers, supervision and management.
