The objective of this research was the comparison of the energy production of two types of photovoltaic module technology in a climate of predominant diffuse radiation. There are several reasons why researching this topic is important; but, among them stand out the current insufficient level of investigation about this matter in Peru that becomes obvious when it is compared with the research conducted by other countries. A deeper understanding of the performance PV technologies will help researchers, professionals of the photovoltaic industry and national policy planners to make better decision, especially if the promotion of distributed generation is expected in the coming years. Experiments were carried out on experimental banks of 250 Wp photovoltaic modules for the polycrystalline silicon system and 256 Wp for the thin film system. The photovoltaic modules were connected to a meter / recorder. The following parameters measured and registered by recorder: Irradiance, voltage, and current. Eppley pyranometers measure the coplanar and horizontal irradiance. Voltage and current from the photovoltaic systems were measured by equipment specially assigned to that function through voltage drop. These data were collected and recorded every 2 minutes. The obtained results support the proposed hypothesis: the energy production of thin-film photovoltaic module is better than the energy production of polycrystalline silicon module under the predominance of diffuse radiation.
