Objective: To determine the impact of COVID - 19 infection on functional dependence in older adults of the ESSALUD Metropolitan C.M - Cusco 2021. Methodology: The based methodology was employed in a cross-sectional study of correlational designs. The population was comprised of 402 older adults diagnosed with COVID-19 from the Metropolitan-Cusco Health Center in the period January-December 2021, the Lawton and Brody scale was used to assess functional dependency, and the Lawton and Brody scale for family functionality. apgar scale. Results: It was observed that before the infection, 39.6% of the patients were autonomous and 45.7% had a light dependence. However, after the infection, only 7.6% of the selfemployed maintained their autonomy and 30.5% became slightly dependent. On the other hand, of the patients with light dependence pre-COVID, 29.9% maintained that classification post-COVID, while 15.2% worsened to moderate dependence. Patients with moderate and severe dependency pre-COVID experienced a significant increase in severity of dependency post-COVID. Pearson's Chi-square value is 293.41 with a p-value of 0.000, which indicates that there is a moderate impact of COVID-19 infection on functional dependence in older adults from the ESSALUD Metropolitan C.M. - Cusco 2021 Similarly, Kendall's Tau-c is 0.519 with a p-value of 0.000, confirming a moderate correlation between the two variables. Conclusions: A moderate impact of COVID-19 infection on functional dependency and family functionality in older adults was found.
