Work addiction can be defined as the psychosocial type of work-related harm characterized by excessive work and the irresistible need or urge to work constantly. The most widely used instrument to measure this variable is the Work Addiction Scale (DUWAS). The aim of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Work Addiction Scale (DUWAS-10) in Spanish in a sample of 306 administrative residents of Metropolitan Lima between 22 and 65 years old. As a result of the factor analysis, the one-factor and two-factor models fitted the data adequately, although the two-factor model showed a better relative fit. Moreover, according to the reliability measurement, the results showed adequate internal consistency. The UWES-9 as a discriminant variant, presented two of its variables: Vigor and Dedication, moderately and negatively associated. In conclusion, the reliability of the DUWAS-10 as an instrument to measure work addiction was confirmed and can be recommended for practical or research purposes.
