We study the hydrostatic equilibrium of charged stars for three different kind of symmetries, namely, spherical, planar and hyperbolic symmetries in d-dimensional spacetirnes. Firstly We briefly review the basic concepts and equations used in the development of the work, such as, the Einstein-Maxweell equations, the energy-momentutm tensor for a charged perfect fluid and the conservation equations. Then we generalize the Birkhoff theorem to d-dimensional spacetimes with spherical, planar, and hyperbolic symmetries, including electric charge and cosmological constant. This first study is important because with this we obtain the general form of the exterior metric.
